RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the owner: 1964 Triumph TR4 ‘ABH 160C’...
An opportunity to acquire a good, usable TR4 and a car which can be enjoyed. This TR4 has a Heritage Certificate which shows that ‘ABH’ remains a numbers-matching car. Originally produced as a LHD car and exported to France, then on to the USA (in 1975) before repatriation in 1989.
The last 2 owners are both local and known to us, the last owning ‘ABH’ since 2010. Following a recent period of little use, ‘ABH’ has now been checked over, serviced and MoT tested and is now presented for sale. With the car is a hard-top and a package of spares.

This TR4 presents well with the underside solid and corrosion-free and, following a programme of bodywork improvements, showing good panel alignment and gaps. The bootlid and bonnet were bare metal resprayed and the front wings and valance replaced along with a Stanpart nearside rear wing! The paintwork is not perfect but quite acceptable and the Alfa Romeo 201A Bianco Polare white paint looks a very close match to the original Triumph white. Overall a TR4 which is presentable but not too good to be driven and enjoyed! Inside she is trimmed black-piped-white and looks nicely original with no unsightly modern upgrades, the early, painted dash also remaining. Brightwork is also quite acceptable and there is nothing that would appear to need rectification or replacement in the foreseeable future.
Mechanically this TR4 performs well on the road. The previous owner rebuilt the engine and there is an Aldon receipt and print-out for the subsequent rolling-road tune. ‘ABH’ starts easily and drives well on the road with nothing of note to detract. Good oil pressure and normal water temperature can be seen. The steering is slop-free, the gearbox smooth and positive with good synchros and the overdrive operates quickly and smoothly.
There is a tonneau cover and hood with the TR, both in black vinyl and in good condition, and a black hardtop. A useful spares package is also with the car, including the original steering wheel, exhaust, clutch, crankshaft, gaskets and other items.
In summary, a matching numbers TR4 which looks nicely original, drives well and yet is not too pristine to drive and enjoy! The upgrades, hardtop and plenty of history – right back to the early 90s – complete the package and she is priced to sell!
