RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale this lovely RHD Alfa Romeo Spider Series 4, 2-litre, ‘K877 MBP’...

A rare, end of line 105/115-series Alfa Spider in 2-litre fuel-injected form. Never officially produced by Alfa Romeo in RHD, a number of cars were converted from LHD and this is one such car, the conversion having been carried out by Sea King (with factory approval). ‘MBP’ still carries the Sea King plaques in the cockpit and the driver’s door shut.

Production details:

  • First registered: 1 August 1992
  • Chassis No: ZAR11500006008208

Specification:

  • Factory hardtop (in very condition, with heated rear window and courtesy light)
  • Soft-top cover
  • Light tan alcantara-leather seats/trim, black carpets with Alfa Romeo overmats
  • Electric windows and mirrors
  • Nardi wood & alloy steering wheel
  • Alarm/immobiliser
  • MoT test to September 2015
  • Odo: 55338 miles (believed to be correct from new)

The last owner and MBOC member purchased ‘MBP’ in May 2003 with the V5C recording only 3 keepers prior to that. The Spider has been little-used since 2006 as a consequence of the owner’s deteriorating health and the Spider was therefore fully inspected and serviced in our workshop on its arrival.

Alfa bodywork is often cause for concern, but this car appears to be corrosion-free with a nice clean underside and no exterior surface bubbling or deterioration to be seen. Aside from a few very small stone-chips, the paint finish is very good indeed. The Spider starts immediately and drives nicely with the 5-speed, all-synchro gearbox changing smoothly and strong brakes – as Alfas should have - and responsive steering, brisk on the road yet all the while comfortable and civilised, just as these late-series Spiders are renowned for.

An affordable way into classic Alfa Romeo ownership and a car which can be used – and enjoyed - as an everyday classic, even in the winter should one wish, with the presence of the original factory hard-top. Values for the 105/115-series Alfa Romeos are rising steadily, so there is perhaps no better time to buy and this low-owner, low mileage Spider in very good overall condition, looking stunning in the ‘Bianco Freddo’ (930) colour and light tan interior should be an attractive proposition for the Alfa Romeo enthusiast.
