RetroMarques is pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the owner: ‘NWF 869F’, a 1967 Lotus Elan Series 3 DHC ‘Project’...A lovely drophead Elan which has had most of the hard work completed and essentially now needs reassembling. Reassuringly, the Elan has been purchased by the present owner from the Lotus technical expert Brian Buckland who has ensured that the correct parts and many now hard to find parts are present with the car. Specification: The Elan is a rolling car with wiring already laid in. ‘Option One’ carried out the bodywork preparation and paintwork and the bonnet, bootlid and doors are already fitted, so too the windscreen, dash top and some lights. We believe that the vast majority of items needed to finish the car are with the car and that very little, if anything, is missing. The vast majority of items are freshly refurbished and ready to be fitted with very few items still needing work: the seats need re-covering, the door cards re-trimming, the door window frames refurbishing. The engine is ready for final assembly with all machine-shop work complete and the block has the crank and pistons fitted. Please note that NWF is presently fitted with knock-off wheels and spinners but a set of genuine Lotus bolt-on wheels, hubs and hub caps are available by separate negotiation. An inventory of parts is available. This Elan has potential to be a really top-class DHC when finished. NWF can be purchased without the worries typical of a full restoration project and safe in the knowledge that she comes from Brian Buckland’s hands and will therefore be correct and to the original, so too all of the refurbished parts. An ideal Elan to complete over the winter, ready for early Spring and the beginning of the next season.
