RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the owner: 1975 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce ‘JFK 370N’...

We are pleased to be able to offer this Spider for purchase as it is without doubt one of the best we have seen, and we see a good number of 105-series Spiders and Coupes through the workshop and bodyshop!

The present owner is a long-term classic car enthusiast and set out to find a really good Kammtail Spider and ‘bought the best I could find’ (his words!).  Only now for sale as he is looking to buy another classic, this is a real opportunity to buy a good Spider.

Details:

  • Type: Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce, RHD
  • Chassis ID: 2470947
  • Eng No: AR10512/S22615
  • First reg: 9 May 75
  • Previous keepers: 3 (2 in the same family!)
  • MoT Test valid: exempt, can be MoT’d on purchase
  • Mileage: 88,341

Purchased by the present owner in 2017, this Spider had at that time been restored (photo record in history file), then just accruing a little mileage following.

The Spider had a front suspension and engine rebuild and then a new double-duck hood fitted yet remaining to original spec.  Since purchase, this owner bought and fitted the lovely Nardi Classico steering wheel and boss, a new boot mat (in original style rubber), static seatbelts and various trim/switch items, including a new seat cover and foam.

In Spring 2018, the Spider was treated to a rebuilt gearbox, new clutch and various drive train components, also an exhaust rear box and other work.  Throughout the present ownership, minor upgrades to trim switches, floor mats, door mirrors and other items have been constantly carried out and we believe there is little or nothing the new owner will wish/need to do.

Overall, this Spider presents very well, not least having just been professionally detailed, and the body and paintwork look very nice indeed, just the odd very small blemish here and there but only to be noted on close inspection.  Importantly, there is no evidence of corrosion in any of the usual Spider weak spots!  The Cromadora Star alloys really suit the Spider and are in as-new condition with good rubber all around.

‘JFK’ starts well, drives off smoothly, with the rebuilt gearbox evident, and is well set-up for the road, the engine strong and happy to rev, steering direct and slop-free and strong, even brakes.  A very nice drive, just as a 105-series should be!  The hood unclips and stows easily – such a great design – and even has the anti-rattle clip-straps still fitted!  There is a hood-bag in the boot, with new clips fitted, and also a tailored car cover.  A touring spares pack-up, the original steering wheel, factory spares book and workshop manual and a wheel brace are also included.

In summary, a very good Spider Veloce which presents very well and drives strongly, with no foreseeable work required in the near future.  A good history file including rebuild photos, low owners and the upgraded alloys and Nardi wheel only add further to a really high-quality package and a car to both enjoy and be proud of.
