RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale this lovely 1976 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce (LHD)...

Chassis No: AR2466409

First registered in the UK June 1991, we understand the Spider was imported into the UK from Germany and has had 4 owners since. In the present ownership since June 2010, the Alfa having been bought for the owner’s honeymoon tour in Italy! The car has been based in Scotland and cared for throughout by Labinjoh, a well-known Alfa Romeo specialist.

Recent invoices show that significant investment has been put into maintaining and improving the Spider – on both mechanical and bodywork aspects - with £1500 having been spent just in recent ownership:

  • New left sill
  • New right sill and lower front and rear wing sections
  • Floor section repair
  • Paint and waxoyling
  • Brake maintenance
  • New rubber carb mounts and post-fit tune-up
  • Service

The vinyl hood is in very good condition and the perspex window is almost perfectly clear. The interior is also in very good condition with new rubber floor mats, new driver’s seat foam, good door cards and handles and the lovely deep-dished Alfa Romeo wood steering wheel. Seat belts are fitted, including in the rear, which is unusual, and therefore ideal if you plan to take children in the car!

The engine bay is nice and presentable and the boot has been fitted with carpet. The previous owner has left a spare parts touring kit with the car and the original Alfa Romeo jack is also present.

The correct Alfa Romeo-marked wheels are shod in as-new Dunlop SPs with plenty of tread remaining, the centre-hub trims are all in good condition and have been fitted with new badges.

The car also has an immobiliser fitted, for additional security given the soft-top.

As many of you will know, condition of the bodywork is all-important with 105-series Alfas and this car has very good panels and underside with nice crisp wheel arch edges and good paintwork with virtually no road damage (stone chips etc). The Spider is also fully waxoyled for wet-weather protection and peace of mind.

Overall, a lovely, usable Alfa Romeo with good bodywork, the iconic Alfa Rosso paint and a smart interior. This Kamm-tail Spider is driving very well and the handling is fabulous – sporty without being too firm. The lovely 2-litre twin-cam starts immediately and feels eager on the road with good oil pressure and normal water temperature. The gearbox is slick with no sign of the typical Alfa synchro problems and the twin-servo brakes are strong and even.

No surprise that these sporty yet practical Alfas are increasingly popular, in demand cars which really do put the joy back into motoring; no wonder values are rising quite steadily!
