RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale ‘WSJ 462’ - Austin-Healey 3000 Mark II (BT7) Tri-carb in Healey Ice Blue ...

This rare ‘tri-carb’ Big Healey was originally exported to Vancouver and registered as ‘093 KEC’. It returned to the UK with its owner, a Canadian Forces officer, in 1995 and was subsequently bought from him by a British Army officer colleague in 1998. In his ownership since 1998 the Healey has been well cared for and seen significant investment to improve and maintain it, not least a bare-metal repaint in 2006. ‘WSJ’ has lived just a few miles from Faringdon (nr Swindon) and cared for by the well-known Healey specialist Allan Cameron. ‘WSJ’ is only now offered for sale as a result of low annual mileage and a recent 2nd classic car purchase by the owner.

  • Despatched: 17 January to Vancouver

  • Colour: Healey Blue
  • Trim/Hood: Blue

Extras:

  • Wire wheels, overdrive, heater, adjustable steering column
  • Specification/equipment:
  • Factory hard-top (in matching Ice Blue)
  • Sidescreens, tonneau and hood (in vinyl)
  • Hi-torque starter motor and heavy-duty battery (with knock-off switch)
  • Chrome wire wheels (60-spoke) shod with Avon & Semperit tyres
  • Spinner hammer & jack

A comprehensive history file accompanies the car, including:

  • MoT certificates from 1998
  • Pictures of other restoration work, including mechanical, and earlier bodywork restoration in Canada
  • Haynes Workshop Manual (in binder) and original BMC Parts List
  • Photo album showing the car from 1971 onwards!
  • Left to Right Hand Drive conversion in 2004
  • Bare-metal, engine out respray, including chassis and underside in 2006, new wiring loom and other work complete with photos
  • New carpets (very recently custom fitted by Inflex Interiors)
  • Magazine featured car (2005): article with history, various other Healey articles

In summary, a very smart and quite rare tri-carb Healey in the iconic Ice Blue and chrome wire wheels and complete with the factory hard-top. The mileage is understood to be genuine as the few owners all garaged the car and used it sparingly. Well cared for by a known Healey specialist and showing very good body and paintwork, testament to the quality of the restoration, and waxoyl protected underside. ‘WSJ’ is driving nicely with a strong engine, good oil pressure, nice gearchange and overdrive, direct steering and strong brakes. Finally, the history file is unusually extensive, especially in the case of a former export car, and completes the package nicely.
