RetroMarques is pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the owner ‘396UYN’, an original 1956 factory Austin-Healey 100M...Chassis number 230731 is a LHD car originally exported to the USA. In 1989, the Healey was purchased in California and exported to Australia to be bought in 1991 by Mr Harry Wysokier. At this stage in its life, the 230731 was in a poor state of repair and Harry began a lengthy, full nut and bolt restoration with the aim of returning the Healey to as close to original build specification as possible. The rebuild took place in Australia with The Healey Factory providing parts and other specialists undertaking specialised aspects of the restoration. Importantly, the restorer was himself a highly experienced and knowledgeable Healey specialist with many years working spent on Austin-Healeys. With this in mind, it is perhaps little surprise that the panel fit and gaps on 230731 are so very good. With the restoration complete, the car was purchased by the present owner and shipped to the UK, originally with the intention of using her (our summer, Aussie winter!)! All taxes and duties have been paid with an appropriate letter of confirmation from the HMRC. She was MoT tested and following proof of production date from the appointed Austin Healey Club official, the DVLA issued a V5C. She is now registered as ‘396 UYN’ and period-correct number plates are with the car. Accordingly, she should be easily re-registered anywhere in Europe should the new owner wish to do so. The original USA registration of JKC 921 (black California plate) accompanies the car, so too various invoices and build notes from the restoration in Australia and of course all UK papers. A hood, sidescreens and bag and tonneau cover are with 396UYN. She has just 80 miles on the odometer, having been barely used since completion of her restoration and shipping to the UK; this 100M both looks and feels ‘factory fresh’ and is a joy to drive; the engine is strong and torquey, the ride is smooth and ‘tight’ and the handling direct yet light and balanced – quite different to the later 6-cylinder Healeys. In LHD specification, this Healey 100M is perfect for European touring and of course a practical and stylish entry for many of the classic events, most notably perhaps the Mille Miglia.
